Kiseulk is the point where the edge of the mountain meets water. This EP features music made for independent films by Judy Kim and Kayla Tange, both of which grasp at issues from different stages of Korean diaspora. Similarly, the music in this album draws from Korean traditions, materials, and aesthetics, as well as non-traditional and non-Korean approaches to music. Traditional Korean instruments and found sounds from Korean objects (such as 잔독, or ceramic fermenting vessels), combine with dinnerplates and guitar effects in music equally influenced by folk rhythms, Confucian ceremonial music, music concrete, and etudes for music school nerds.
